Germany Supports Tom Cruise's New Anti-Hitler Film

Why this movie caught my eye:
1. Tom Cruise - he and his "religion" Scientology is a never-ending source of discussion
2. Bryan Singer - the director of box office hit movies like the X-Men series and Superman
3. Adolf Hitler - still making news 60 years later

Combine all three of them in a movie is just weird.

Kevin Spacey returns as Lex Luthor

One of the best actors of our time, Kevin Spacey is set to reprise his role as Superman's archnemesis Lex Luthor in Superman Returns' sequel Superman: The Man of Steel. I wasn't a big fan of the 2006 movie but Kevin Spacey is one of my fave Hollywood actors so it's good to hear he'll be back in the big screen for the next Superman movie.

The Secret of the Magic Gourd

I know I've read about this movie a few weeks ago, but forgot about it. And here it is again. Apparently this Disney movie was shown in China (and only in?). I don't remember any ads about this movie here. I hope they show it here.

Carter: The Sexy Witch

This is an interesting interview with Helena Bonham Carter, who played the role of Bellatrix Lestrange in the upcoming movie Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I didn't know she had a hand in deciding how her character will look like on the screen.

Pixar is Old-School

Pixar is one of the most financially successful studios lately, thanks largely to their advanced animation technology. But behind the cool 3D animation in each of their movie lies the secret to the success of their movies: a good old story.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Reviews

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is right around the corner and movie reviews are starting to pop up. Some are saying it's not that good while others are praising it as the best in the series so far.

Here are some of the reviews I've seen:
Review: `Potter' Spins More of the Same (Yahoo!)
A collection of reviews from several websites (BBC) - a good source of mix reviews about the movie.

I'm still going to watch it anyway. The question is when. Hopefully I get to see the movie before the release of the final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Weekend Box Office: July 6 - 8, 2007

Transformers was a huge success in US and Canada during the July 6 to 8 weekend. Yay!!!

Here's the top 20 movies of the weekend if you're interested.

Hoorah for Transformers!

Transformers was one of my favorite cartoon shows growing up. When I first heard of the news that they're going to make a live action movie of it, at first I was a bit weary. The show had been off the air for more than a decade now (well, I mean the show has reruns on some channels but no new episodes). Slowly, as "spoilers" leak in, I got excited. Could it really become a good film?

I've seen the movie, and I have to admit I love it. There were some flaws, but the movie was so fun to watch that you'll just don't care about those flaws.

Since the Philippines was one of the countries who showed Transformers earlier than the US, I didn't know if it would be a hit or a miss in the US. (If a movie is a hit in the US, you can say that it would be a hit everywhere else). Now that it's been shown in America, I'm glad that it did well in the box-office!

Hopefully this means they'll do a sequel.

BBC news on the success of Transformers

Welcome to my new blog!

Welcome to my new blog. I've decided to start this blog so that I'll have a place to share you news about movies that interests me. Said news will most probably be taken from other sites. I may also write a few reviews of movies I've seen recently.
